History
When we think of a quintessential American dream story, we probably think of people like Bill Anderson. Over the course of nearly 35 years, Bill’s entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to quality has catapulted him from an everyday contractor to the industry-leader across Virginia, DC, and the Mid-Atlantic region.
Bill Anderson was a budding mechanical contractor working for another company. Over the years, his hard work and dedication led to him running the company in practice . . . but not on paper. Inspired and emboldened to forge his own path, he founded Anderson Mechanical Services, Inc. (AMSI) in 1988 with 2 employees working out of his house and methodically built his businesses to 30 full-time employees by 2004.
The secret?
Provide better service work than everyone else. Better by being smarter, working faster, being transparent with customers, and sustaining a level of quality that his competitors simply couldn’t match. From 1988 to 2021, his service work contracts have grown from a couple thousand to multiple millions. What began as light commercial work expanded into large commercial work, service, VRF, BIM, and more.
The 2 employees working out of his house? Now AMSI has 150 employees…and counting. Although growth has been steady and consistent throughout the company’s history, the inclusion of Tim Anderson has ushered in a new era of expansion and level of scale that continues today.
